Rotary Club of Pisgah Forest held a semi-annual food drive “Pack the Pantry” for Sharing House on Saturday, November 14 at the Courthouse Gazebo.

According to a recent newsletter, Sharing House has seen incredible increases for the needs of services. “In comparing 2013 to 2014, here’s what we encountered: 50% increase of pounds of food given out, 57% increase of households serviced, 23% increase of new clients.”

Previous “Pack the Pantry” food drives have collected as much as 13,000 lbs. of food and $4,500 in cash.  Cash donations are welcome. Sharing House is able to maximize purchases through their buying programs.   Most needed items are:  canned fruit, canned peas mayonnaise/ketchup, cold and hot cereal, spaghetti sauce, spaghetti, and hamburger helper.

Sharing House Transylvania Christian Ministry, a faith based organization, assists Transylvania County residents in need with the basic necessities of life, and opens up opportunities for people to improve the quality of their lives. The organization also assists the greater community in understanding and responding to these needs.

Thank you all volunteers and to all who provided much needed items!
